Steffan had his first (freshman) basketball game. They won! I can't even begin to tell you how very cool it is to see your kid playing sports. He did really good. |
| Dec. 5 |
I'm 17 weeks! Danny took a picture so you can see my tummy. You can see it here. (That's our dog Daisy with me.) I don't remember showing this much with Steffan. But, my stomach muscles were probably much tighter at 28 than they are now at... well.. you know... NOT 28. :) So far my weight gain is really good. I've only gained 2 lbs! I did really good with Steffan too though. I only gained 28 with Steffan. Hopefully I'll do the same with this precious one too! :) |

We are supposed to have ANOTHER ice storm! ugh. We just had one in January. We are under a winter storm warning from today (Sunday) thru Tuesday night. Last time we had about 1" of ice on EVERYTHING, and we were without power for 6 days. I pray we don't go thru that again. I wish we could just have a huge snow come in... this ice is horrrrrible. We've stocked up on batteries and food/water. Kinda like getting ready for a hurricane in Houston! :) I'm honestly not sure which is worst. I think the hurricane was more scary. This is just miserable! |
| Dec. 10 |
Woke up this morning to ice everywhere! The lights flickered a tiny bit this afternoon... but we still have power! YEAH! It is absolutely freeeeezing! |
| Dec. 11 |
We had our doctor's appointment and everything checked out fine! :) The baby's heartbeat was good and strong! And we made our ultrasound appointment for Dec. 28. We were kind of bummed that we couldn't get in before Christmas, but at least we'll know how everything is in just 2 weeks! Which by the way... Danny doesn't really want to know what the sex is! But I do! So I say I win! ha! ha! I think once he's in the room looking at the baby, he'll want to know. I'll keep you posted!
And on the weather front... I woke up this morning and all the ice was gone and it was 50 degrees! FIFTY!! Can you believe it? It is supposed to get down to 30 again tonight and have some freezing rain, but it's not predicted to stick. |

Today I'm 18 weeks! The time is flying by! A part of me can't wait to see and hold this precious baby... and the other part of me is like WAIT!! I'm not ready! We haven't even started on the baby's room. But... we're going to be selling our house next year so we're not going to go "all out" on the baby's room until we have our new house. Then... look out! But we still don't have a crib or a changing table for the baby or any of the other necessities. But, we still have about FOUR months to work on that! YIKES! FOUR MONTHS!!!! Ok.. deep breaths... in... out... in.... out... in.... |

Well it's been awhile since I wrote! Sorry!! Things have been so busy with work (which is fabulous - thank you God!). So busy in fact that I thought Christmas was 2 weeks away and thought I had another 2 weekends to finish my shopping. Imagine my horror on Monday morning when I realized it was next week and still had TONS of shopping to do, still hadn't sent my dad's presents to Chicago, and hadn't even started on my Christmas cards! Pure panic!! But.. today, all is well.
God has done some absolutely AWESOME things in our life this week that I will share with you if you ask... they are too personal for the world wide web. Even though my life is busy and a tad stressful lately, I'm happy that I can still see God working in my life and even giving me presents! :) If anyone out there is reading this and thinking that life has handed you a bunch of lemons lately... take another look. I'll bet you that God has had a giant glass of lemonade for you and you were just too busy/stressed or consumed with what is going on in your life to see it and take it from him. So open your eyes and hearts folks... he's always doing things for us. We just have to stop and... drink a nice glass of lemonade! :)
This week marks my 19th week! I can't believe that I'm almost 5 months! |
| Dec. 22 |
Well, after spending 2 days shopping, we're finally finished with all our Christmas shopping. Whew! And boy oh boy am I tired! And boy are there some crazy people out there shopping!! Where is the Christmas spirit people? :) |
| Dec. 24 |
We went to mom's for Christmas Eve and had a fabulous dinner and opened lots and lots of presents. My dad and his wife, Melody, sent us our gifts from Chicago and one of them was THE CUTEST ornament! It was one of those clay ornaments and it's a pregnant girl and has my name on it. See it here! And my aunt Vickie got us a picture frame for the baby. It is so sweet and cannot wait to put the baby's picture in there! :) And my grama made me a crazy quilt that I have been wanting for a year! It is GORGEOUS!! And the girls in the family always do a white elephant gift. This year grama put in a Christmas quilt. Now, usually.. if I know somebody likes their gift, I won't take it from them.. even when Grama made tea towels and Val got them, I didn't take them from her. And I always said if/when Grama makes something else again... I'm not gonna be so nice!! So when mom had the quilt... I had to do it... I took it from her. And THANKFULLY no one took it from me!! I mean... who would right? I'm pregnant! ha! ha!
I overheard grama telling mom that she thought I was carrying twins because my stomach is so huge! I feel like I'm huge too! But I'm pretty sure there's only one in there! And I've only gained 5 lbs, so it's all baby! ha! |
| Dec. 25 |
We went to Danny's parents to celebrate Christmas and had a blast (as usual). This year we all wore our PJ's, which when you're pregnant... is FABULOUS!! At his parent's house, they have a stocking for everyone and everyone puts something in them for everyone. Well, this year, they even had a stocking for Baby Pfeiffer! It was filled with rattles and pacifiers. SO CUTE!! And, they also had a couple other special presents. One was a nite shirt that says, "Because I'm pregnant that's why!" ha! and then his parents also got the baby a little St. Louis Cardinals stocking cap and pacifier. And Danny's brother (Mike) and his wife (Mickey) got the baby his/her first outfit... a Chicago Cubs outfit! With a Cub's pacifier accessory! ha! (background... Mickey and Danny are always talkin' smack about each other's baseball teams, so Mickey (of course) had to get the baby some Cub's gear! ha!) It was so funny and perfect! ha! I can't wait until next year when we have our little one with us. |
| Dec. 26 |
Today marks my 5th month! I can't believe it! Only 4 to go. And Danny has finally said that he will find out what the baby's sex with me on Friday!! Which is a huge stress reliever because I didn't know how me and everyone else could keep it from him! I also found a website today that shows how big the baby is each week. This week, the baby is the length of a banana! :) |
| Dec. 28 |
WE'RE HAVING A BOY!!! The famous pencil test was wrong... we're definitely having a boy!! And a large boy at that! We had our 20 week ultrasound today, and after answering several questions, it is determined that my due date is correct (May 15), but the baby's size looks like he should be due May 6! There is some discrepancy on how big Danny was when he was born. His mom says he was 7 lbs... which is very cool. I can handle that because Steffan was 7lbs 7oz. But Danny and his sister Debbie remember hearing that he was in fact 10 lbs!! So we need to get to the bottom of that one! Hopefully there is some type of official record of this. I'm starting to sweat bullets! ha! ha! When I was pregnant with Steffan, the doctor said I could handle nothing larger than an 8 lb baby. So... I may be in for a treat! ha!
If you would like to see photos of the ultrasound, take a look at the gallery page. Some of the photos (the 3D images) are amazing!!! You can see his face and his hand so clearly. In the regular ultrasound photos you can see his little pee-pee very clearly too!!
Both grandma's got to be in the room with us during the last portion of the ultrasound and got to experience the 3D ultrasound with us. It was a very special day!!! |
