Ultrasound! We went in for our first ultrasound this morning. We got to hear the heartbeat (which was beating 156 beats per minute) and we could see the baby! By the size, they are saying the baby is 8 weeks and 2 days. Which is a bit off from our calculations so I'm a little nervous that this is going to be a big baby! YIKES! But.. there was only one baby in there so we are not expecting twins. We're a little disappointed... a LITTLE! ha! You can see the baby's first picture here. |

Well, my morning sickness is a bit better these days because I started taking my prenatal vitamin before bed. Now, I can be sick while I sleep instead! Much betta!
I was thinking that maybe you all would like to see what the baby is looking like and developing at 9 weeks. If you do... click here! |

I had a terrrrrible migraine. It started Saturday morning and gradually got worse throughout the day. By the evening I was down for the count. And unfortunately, I can't take anything for it except Tylenol. Which, is basically like drinking a glass of water! ha! But I took it anyway because it seemed to take a BIT of the edge off. We go to the new doctor tomorrow. Can't wait to see how we're doing! :) Oh... If you'd like to see what the baby development is at 10 weeks, click here! |

We went to the Doctor’s today for my regular monthly check up and everything was good. We got to hear the heartbeat again. That is such a cool thing! And then the Doctor told us that because of my age, I should have a sequential screening (blood test and another ultrasound where they measure the baby's neck) to test for Down Syndrome. Ugh. The scary thing is this test has a lot of false positives. GREAT. If I do test positive, then we do an amnio test at around 15 weeks (needle in the stomach! OUCH! To pull out the amnio fluid and run tests on it). That one will be able to tell us 100% if the baby is alright or not. So Danny and I were just kinda… numb after this visit. My new doctor (first time visit today) doesn't really have a great bedside manor. She just blurts things out, very mechanical in the way she talks to us… no sugar coating from her I guess! So… keep the baby in your prayers that he/she is fine and healthy. Put us on your prayer list at church too if you have one! Anyway… that first test is going to be on Halloween, Oct. 31. We’re kinda nervous. I really don’t think God would allow us to finally get pregnant and have something be wrong. I just don’t think He would do that. But… you never know what He has planned and why. You know? We just have to trust in Him that everything will be fine and if it's not, that he will carry us through. |

Well, we cancelled our sequential screening for down syndrome on Oct. 31. After talking with the genetic clinic, we decided that we will probably have to do the amnio test anyway and that test is more accurate. The sequential one has a lot of false positive results because they factor in the age of the mother. And after talking with the genetic nurse, she said that since my age would be factored into the equation, that I would probably have a positive result and would have to have the amnio anyway. So rather than put us thru anymore stress on this subject, we are skipping the sequential and just going on with the amnio. We're nervous. The amnio test will be on November 26. I'll be about 16 weeks. |

Old Wives Tales - Well, it's official. The baby is going to be a boy... or a girl! ha! My niece Celina says that she can tell what the baby will be by doing some calculations from my birthday, and she is sure it will be a boy. However, my family did the pencil test and that test showed very clearly to be a girl! :) For those of you who do not know the pencil test... you take a sharpened pencil, and put a threaded needle in the top of the eraser. Then somebody holds the pencil over the woman's wrist and if it moves in a straight line, it's a boy. If it moves in a circle, it's a girl. Mine picked up Steffan first, and then a girl. You can do this on any woman, pregnant or not. And you can see what she has had, or what she will have! The pencil test I had when pregnant with Steffan, also showed a boy. So... there you go! :) |

Terrible migraine for 2 days AGAIN! I sure do hope this stops after the first trimester! ugh. And Tylenol just doesn't cut it. So far I've had one at least once a week the past 2 weeks. yuck! |
| Oct. 24 |
Well, the baby is now 11 weeks. Only one more week and we can shout to the world that we're pregnant! I can't wait to tell everyone! Especially my friends back in Houston. They are going to be so excited and surprised! If you would like to see what the baby's development is like at 11 weeks, click here! |

ANOTHER MIGRAINE! This is too much. And I don't feel like I can take anymore Tylenol because, how can 8 of them a day be good for the baby? I thought having a migraine once a week was going to be bad. But I've already had 2 this week... and they last for 2 days. UGH! I've made an appointment to get a massage today. I haven't had one in, well, since I lived in Houston. But I read that massage sometimes helps with migraines so I'm PRAYING that this will help! Danny has been so wonderful thru this too. He takes care of his little momma to be! :) |
| Oct. 26 |
Well, the migraine went away after the massage, and then came back in full force at 1:00am today! ugh. But the good news is... it finally disappeared by noon. PLEASE stay away for awhile! Maybe since I'm nearing the end of the first trimester, they will be going away! |

Make room for baby! Steffan has been wanting to move upstairs in the finished attic since my sister moved out, so this weekend was the big day. Now he has a big room upstairs and now his old room will be the baby's room.
The whole family went out this evening to celebrate Danny's birthday (which is Oct. 30). Our tradition is to go to Lambert's to eat and then go to a haunted house. THANKFULLY I didn't have to go this year because I'm pregnant! Thanks little baby for saving me from this scary night! |

THE BIG DAY! This is the day we are going to tell everyone that we're pregnant. Of course family knows but none of our friends know yet and it has been HARD to keep this a secret! Here is the baby at 12 weeks!
And, in other news. We cancelled our Amnio testing appointment. We prayed about it and decided against going thru with it. We trust God, no matter what. It wouldn't have mattered what the test results were, we would love this baby regardless. We decided we didn't need the stress while I was pregnant. And since I've already had one healthy baby, and we have nothing in our family history, we're sure the baby will be fine. :) |

I can't wait until next year on Halloween so we can dress up our little one!! |
